Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist and businesswoman. She is a co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global and the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is an author TV personality, philanthropist, and owner of the independently open online newsmagazine The Huffington Post. Born in Greece Arianna Huffington emigrated to England with her family when she was age 16. At Cambridge University she earned a MA degree in Economics. When she was 21, she became the president of the famed debate club The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign born student in the history of Cambridge University to be elected. Her success as a columnist of the conservative side was confirmed after she finished her degree. With the introduction of The Huffington Post a few months later, she launched an online voice-portal that provided critiques of the politics. Her fame and popularity helped to get a number of prominent contributors to share their opinions on politics news and culture. Arianna became famous when she made the decision to stand independently during the California recall election in order to succeed then Governor Davis. The project she headed was a Detroit fuel-efficient car project. In 2009 she was named by Forbes as The most influential female media personality, taking the 12th position on their listing and the following year, the Guardian included her in the top 100 media list. AOL Inc. made her the President of their media company in 2011 after they purchased The Huffington Post. The Huffington Post also included additional AOL brands such as Engadget AOLmusic Style list as well as Patch Media. The parents of her were Elli and Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, who was a consultant in management as well as a journalist. She was extremely close to her father. However, it was her bond with her mother who has shaped her. In her early years she showed her leadership skills for which she's still known. When she was in her 16th year she returned to the UK to study and enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. In the years of her university she joined Cambridge Union. Cambridge Union debating group where she became the first woman and the only president from outside the country. In 1972, her master's in Economics was conferred. In the years following after graduation she was a critic columnist and television host. She was on the show with Bernard Levin on an edition Face the music, and she started writing her own books with his assistance.
