Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She founded The Huffington Post, is the CEO and founder of Thrive Global as well an writer of 15 novels. Arianna Huffington has been an actor, journalist as well as a philanthropist, author and journalist for more than ten years. She is also the owner of The Huffington Post, an independently-liberal online newsmagazine. She emigrated to Greece to England at the age of 16 and obtained a MA at Cambridge University in Economics. In her 21st year, she was head of the famous debate club The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign student in the history of Cambridge University to be elected. Her popularity as a conservative journalist was further consolidated when she finished her degree. When the Huffington Post was launched The Huffington Post a few months later, she launched an online platform for voice that gave critiques of the political situation. The fame she gained allowed her to persuade a number of stars to voice their views about current affairs, political and culture. Arianna rose to fame in 2003 after she decided to contest as an independent candidate in the California recall election in order to succeed the Governor Davis. Also, she was the head of an Detroit energy-efficient vehicle project. She was named The Most Influential Women in Media by Forbes in 2009, and was awarded 12th position on that list. That same year Guardian included her in the 100 most influential media on their list. In 2011, AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post and made her the head of the media company, which also included a number of existing AOL products, such as Engadget AOL music Style list and Patch Media. Her parents were journalist and management consultant Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. While she was close with her father, the relationship she had to her mom shaped the remainder of her life. In her early years she demonstrated the leadership abilities that she is still known for. When she was 16 she moved to the United Kingdom to pursue her studies and enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. While in college and was in Cambridge Union, she joined the college debating societies and eventually was its first foreign female president. The year 1972 was the year her master's in Economics was awarded. She worked as a critic, a TV host as well as a columnist following her graduation. She also appeared together with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started creating books with his editing assistance.
