Lee Roy Selmon's life is a combination of football scholarship, family service as well as community involvement. The first time the Selmons were brought up by Lucious as well as Jessie Selmon, on a farm near Eufala in Oklahoma as one of the nine children they had. In football, he played with three of his brothers from Oklahoma. All three became All-America. In 1973, Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the players for one season. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award as well as the Lombardi Award for being the top lineman in America. During his three years as the Oklahoma's quarterback of choice, the Sooners went 32-1-1 and won two national championships. Third scholarship he was named a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon received a bachelor's degree from the University of California in Berkeley. Fourth-year service in college Lee Roy devoted ten hours every week for volunteer activities. He moved to Tampa after college, was a member of the Buccaneers for nine years and was three-times all-pro. The business venture he started began. The first position he held was an Account Relation Officer at First Florida Bank, Tampa. He was a member in the past for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one of Ten of America's top young men. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch higher and weighing in at the hefty 256 pounds at college when he was player, commanded his team for the year 1975. In 1993, he was named assistant director of the University of South Florida. In 1988, Selmon was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. In addition, he was inducted into an appearance in the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1995, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave its Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon, Jr. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma made the presentation.
